Perhaps it's because it's not long now until we say good-bye to 2011, but I have been in an especially reflective mood of late. Whenever I've had a moment to spare, I've found myself strolling down memory lane thinking back to all that's happened over the past 12 months.

Now, before you read any further, I want you to stop and list out 2011's top events that have either affected you personally or that you feel were the most important in the year. That's right, get pen and paper and physically jot down your top 10.

This past week I received an email from an old friend. It was terse and straight to the point - "I've done it - I'm giving up booze for Lent."
